Interactive Dashboard Powered by the RegSync LNG Dataset
We've done some work in the background of the dashboard above. As you explore, it will scan through each of the 30,000 LNG consultation records to determine if they have keywords associated with one of the following three themes: Economic Opportunities, Global Climate and Local Ecosystem.
'Economic Opportunities' scans for any mention of jobs, employment or economic benefits. In addition to air emissions, 'Global Climate' searches for anything associated with climate change, global warming, methane, greenhouse gases, CO2, IPCC or sea levels. The 'Local Ecosystem' theme identifies any mention of land or sea animals, vegetation, habitat, hunting, trapping or water.
How to Use the Dashboard
When nothing is selected, the outside doughnut chart shows the total number of consultation records for each group. When a theme is selected, this chart will then display the total number of records associated with that theme. The inside pie chart shows the density of the selected theme within the records for each group. For example, if Community ABC has a total of 1,000 consultation records and 100 of them mention a keyword associated with the local ecosystem, when the theme, 'Local Ecosystem,' is selected, the doughnut would show, "100," and the pie would show, "10%."
If you are reading this from your phone, we'd recommend playing with this dashboard from your computer to get the full experience.
Every Consultation Record. One Location.
There are six regulators who oversee oil and gas development in British Columbia and Alberta. Each has its own, very unique and complex application directory. This makes it difficult and time-consuming to find consultation records, let alone perform analysis and identify trends. DIMEC synchronizes information from every regulator and converts every document submitted by every proponent, stakeholder and Indigenous community into a single, easy to use database called RegSync. RegSync includes every concern and response, feedback on applications, public comments, working group comments and engagement logs. Click here to learn more.
